Vade Mecum was shot in Hangzhou, China, where Saturne spent a few months studying at the China Academy of Art. This movie deals with the change of perspective they were confronted with at that time, when calling into question an ethnocentric approach of environment —pre-conceived ideas on nature and technology. The title is to tackle the famous quote from The Assayer (1623) by Galileo, according to whom nature should be read and studied as a book.
